UGC NET June 2026 Notification Out: Check Exam Dates, Eligibility & Application Link

NTA UGC NET June 2026

UGC NET June 2026 Notification: NTA has invited online applications for the June 2026 cycle starting from April 29, 2026. The UGC NET 2026 exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects from June 22 to June 30, 2026. If you are planning to apply, the last date for fee payment is May 20, 2026. This post covers everything from the official notification PDF and eligibility marks (55% for General, 50% for Reserved) to the step-by-step process for the UGC NET June 2026 apply online link.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates who comply with the eligibility criteria mentioned below can apply for the UGC NET June Exam 2026.
    • Education: Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories); final-year students can also apply.

Age limit

  • JRF: Maximum 30 years (relaxation for reserved categories).
  • Assistant Professor: No age limit.

Examination Fee

  • Unreserved category candidates will need to pay an application fee of ₹1150, General-EWS/OBC-NCL category candidates will have to pay ₹600, and ST/SC and third gender category candidates will need to pay ₹325.
  • The application fee can be paid by using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI.

UGC NET 2026 Exam Pattern

  • The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple choice questions. There will be no break between papers.
    • Paper - 1: The questions in Paper I intends to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate, with 100 marks & 50 questions and 3 hours (180 minutes) duration without any break.
    • Paper - 2: This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge, with 200 marks & 100 questions and 3 hours (180 minutes) duration without any break.

UGC NET 2026 Syllabus and Subject of Test

  • The List of UGC-NET subjects for June 2026 and their Codes are given at Annexure-III. The candidates may note that the syllabus has been modified and the new syllabus applicable from June 2026 on wards has also been notified through a public notice on NTA website.
  • National Testing Agency will not provide the copy of syllabus to any candidate with below mention link.

Selection Process

  • Final Selection will be based on Computer Based Test (CBT).

How to Apply Online for UGC NET Notification June 2026 Exam?

  • The application form for the UGC NET 2026 June Session is available on the official website of NTA. Interested candidates can check the steps to apply for the exam below:
    • Step 1: Visit the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
    • Step 2: Click on the “UGC NET June 2026 Registration” link available on the homepage.
    • Step 3: Complete New Registration by entering name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID to generate Application Number.
    • Step 4: Log in using the Application Number and Password generated during registration.
    • Step 5: Fill out the complete application form, including personal details, category, educational qualification, and your preferred exam subject.
    • Step 6: Select preferred exam city choices carefully, as per your convenience.
    • Step 7: Upload a scanned photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
    • Step 8: Proceed to fee payment using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI.
    • Step 9: After successful payment, download the confirmation page.
    • Step 10: Take a printout of the UGC NET Application Form for reference later.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has been released on 16 April 2025 on their official website of UGC NET NTA. Interested candidates can apply for the UGC NET Exam 2025 June Cycle from 16 April 2025. They must note that the last date to apply for UGC NET 2025 is 7 May 2025 through online mode only. Tentatively, the UGC NET NTA Exam 2025 will be conducted from 21 June to 30 June 2025. National Testing Agency - NTA has officially published the UGC NET 2023 Notification, which allows candidates to apply for the UGC NET Exam 2023 between 30 September 2023, and 28 October 2023. The last date to pay the application fees for the UGC NET 2023 is 29 October 2023 and the correction window will remain open on 30 October 2023 and 31 October 2023.   • Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC. For more details please read official notification.

  • JRF: Not more than 30 years 
  • Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.

Examination Fee

  • Rs. 1150/- (General/ Unreserved)

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification

  • M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. 
  • Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship. 
  • Such candidates will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared.
  •  B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D program within the validity period of two years. Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/ Associate Professor.
  • Specification of degrees (whether Bachelor’s or Master’s) as notified by UGC in its Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July, 2014 and as amended from time to time, shall apply. 
  • The eligibility for lectureship/ Assistant Professor of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991 with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/ Assistant Professor only.

Age limit

  • JRF: Maximum 28 years as on 01/01/2020
  •  Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor: No upper age limit

Application Fee

  • Rs. 1000/- for General / General-EWS
  • Rs. 500/- for OBC-NCL
  • Rs. 250/- SC/ST

  • Final selection will be based on written examination.

CBSE UGC NET Exam Pettern

  • Paper: 1
    • Questions: 100 (All are compulsory)
    • Marks: 100
    • Time: 1 Hour (09:30 AM to 10:30 AM) IST
  • Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
  • Paper: 2
    • Questions: 100 (All are compulsory)
    • Marks: 200
    • Time: 2 Hours (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM) IST
  • Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate

University Grants Commission - UGC published admit card for National Eligibility Test (UGC - NET) January 2017. National Eligibility Test (NET) on 22nd January 2017 for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges.
