SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility
Nationality/Citizenship
- A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan.
- Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 4.1.2 and 4.1.3 above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
- A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India..
Educational Qualification
- Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub Inspector (GD) in CAPFs is Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. The candidates who have appeared in their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply; however they must possess Essential Qualification on or before the cut-off date; i.e., closing date of receipt of applications.
- Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector (Fire) is Bachelor’s degree in science with physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of a recognized University or equivalent; OR Matriculation or equivalent and three years diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automoblies, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering OR equivalent examination passed from a recognized University or Board or Institutions. The higher qualification i.e. B. Tech/M Tech in relevant fields can be allowed as the same will be value addition for the post subject to basic qualification (Diploma) being there.
Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)
- The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed as 01.08.2026 in accordance with the provisions of DoP&T OM No. 14017 /70/87-Estt.(RR) dated 14.07.1988. Age limit for all posts except SI(FIRE) in CISF is 20-25 years; i.e. Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.2001 and not later than 01.08.2006 to be eligible to apply.
- Age limit for SI(FIRE) in CISF is 18-30 years; i.e. Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2008 to be eligible to apply.
SSC CPO 2026 application fee
- The application fee for SSC CPO 2026 is Rs 100. Women candidates, candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
SSC CPO 2026 selection process
- The SSC CPO recruitment process will be conducted in multiple stages. Candidates will first appear for Paper-I, followed by the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET). Those who qualify the required stages will proceed to Paper-II, followed by the Detailed Medical Examination.
- Paper-I will consist of 100 questions carrying 200 marks. Paper-II will contain 200 questions carrying 200 marks. The examination tests candidates across reasoning, general knowledge and awareness, quantitative aptitude and English comprehension, with the distribution of subjects varying according to the paper.
- Negative marking will also be applicable. Candidates therefore need to balance speed with accuracy rather than attempting questions without assessing the risk of losing marks.
- The physical tests are particularly important because clearing the written examination alone does not guarantee progression to the final stages of recruitment.
