SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility

Nationality/Citizenship

  • A candidate must be either:
  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan.

Educational Qualification

  • Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub Inspector (GD) in CAPFs is Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. The candidates who have appeared in their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply; however they must possess Essential Qualification on or before the cut-off date; i.e., closing date of receipt of applications. 
  • Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector (Fire) is Bachelor’s degree in science with physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of a recognized University or equivalent; OR Matriculation or equivalent and three years diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automoblies, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering OR equivalent examination passed from a recognized University or Board or Institutions. The higher qualification i.e. B. Tech/M Tech in relevant fields can be allowed as the same will be value addition for the post subject to basic qualification (Diploma) being there.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

  • The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed as 01.08.2026 in accordance with the provisions of DoP&T OM No. 14017 /70/87-Estt.(RR) dated 14.07.1988.
