Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially begun, opening applications for 102 vacancies under the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), functioning under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The recruitment drive, notified through Advertisement No. 14/2025, includes 100 posts of Examiner of Trade Marks and Geographical Indications and two posts of Deputy Director (Examination Reforms).

UPSC CGPDTM Examiner Eligibility Criteria 2025Educational Qualification
- Examiner of Trade Marks & GI: Applicants must have a Law degree from a recognised university, and 2 years of experience in handling court cases and other legal matters/trademarks & geographical indications.
- Deputy Director (Examination Reforms): The qualification includes a combination of academic eligibility and related work experience, as per UPSC’s prescribed rules. Candidates must have passed PhD in any discipline in Humanities or Science or Commerce or Engineering/Technology or in courses like Law or Management or Finance or Accounts from a recognised university and 5 Years post qualification experience in teaching at degree level/research/preparation of teaching learning material/curriculum development/educational testing/examination reforms/development & administration of online examinations.
Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026)

UPSC CGPDTM Selection Process 2025
- The selection process for the UPSC CGPDTM recruitment is based solely on an interview. Candidates whose applications satisfy all the required eligibility conditions will be shortlisted and invited for the interview round. At the time of the interview, applicants must carry a printed copy of their online application form along with the original documents and self-attested photocopies as instructed. They must also keep ready any additional items or certificates specified in the Interview Summon Letter, as these will be verified during the interview process.
