High Court of Gujarat - HCG is notified   for   information   of   all   concerned,   that   the Preliminary   Examination   (Elimination   Test)   and   the   Test   of   Gujarati Language, for the cadre of Civil Judge, which was tentatively scheduled to be conducted on 15/05/2022 (Sunday) is now postponed and the same will   be   conducted   on  05/06/2022 (Sunday). E-Call Letter-cum-Admission Slip in this regard will be made available on the HC-OJAS Portal with effect from 30/05/2022. You can view this notification by below mentioned link and download your call letter. You can download your call letter by entering your roll number / confirmation number along with Birth date at below mentioned link.

Scheme of Examinations & Syllabus

  • The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) shall be of 100 Marks,  the duration whereof will be  02  Hours,  consisting of Multiple   Choice   Questions (MCQs)  each   of  01   Mark  with Negative Marking  of  0.33 Mark  for each  Wrong / Multiple Answer, and would be based on the following Syllabus:

        • (1) The Indian Penal Code, 1860
        • (2) The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
        • (3) The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
        • (4) The Gujarat Prohibition Act, 1949
        • (5) The Probation of Offenders’ Act, 1958
        • (6) The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015
        • (7) The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005
        • (8) The Gujarat Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887
        • (9) The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956
        • (10) Pre­conception   and   Pre­Natal   Diagnostic   Techniques  
        • (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994
        • (11) The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881

      • The language of the Question Paper of Preliminary Examination will be English Only.
      • Preliminary   Examination   Paper   (Objective   Type)  shall   be assessed / evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to  rechecking of the OMR Sheets,  subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court. 
      • In view of amended Rule­7, viz. Clause (aa) of Sub­Rule (2) of Rule­7 of “The Gujarat State Judicial Service (Amendment) Rules, 2019”, Candidates  who have not passed Secondary as well as Higher Secondary Examination with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages) are required to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) Language Proficiency Test as prescribed below and to secure minimum 40% Marks for being eligible for being called for Main Written Examination. 
    • Paper - ­II: Test of Gujarati Language: (Marks ­50 – Duration 1½  Hours) 
      • [For those Candidates, who have not passed Secondary as well as Higher Secondary Examination with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages)] Syllabus: 
        • ગુજરાતી નિબંધ લેખન
        • ફકરા ઉપરથી પ્રશ્નોના જવાબ
        • સમાનાર્થી શબ્દો
        • વિરૂદ્ધાર્થી શબ્દો
        • પત્રલેખન
        • ભાષાંતર - અનુવાદ (ગુજરાતી - અંગ્રેજી અને અંગ્રેજી - ગુજરાતી)
        • ટૂંકનોંધ (કોઈપણ વિષય પર)
        • ગુજરાતી વ્યાકરણ
      • To   become   eligible   for   Main   Written   Examination,   the Candidate has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) and must have also passed their Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages); has to secure 50% or more Marks in the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) and 40% or more Marks in the Test of Gujarati Language,   in   case   they   have   not   passed   their   Secondary   and Higher Secondary Examinations with subject of Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages).
      • The   Marks   obtained   by   the   Candidates   in   the   Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) as well as the Test of Gujarati Language shall not be taken into consideration for preparing the Final Merit of the candidates.
  • (A) Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type):  (Tentatively scheduled for 17/07/2022)
    • The   Main   Written   Examination   shall  consist   of  Two  Papers, based on the Syllabus given below :

    • The   Candidates   belonging   to   Scheduled   Castes   &   Scheduled Tribes, securing minimum 45% Marks and all other Candidates securing   minimum  50%   Marks  in   the   Main   Written Examination shall be eligible for being called for Viva­voce (Oral Interview) Test, provided the Candidate has secured minimum 40% Marks in each paper.

Scheme of Examinations & Syllabus

  • The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test): The Candidates would be able to download their ‘e-Call-letter-cumAdmission Slip’ from the OJAS Portal of NIC i.e. https://hc-ojas.guj.nic.in from 04/09/2018.
    • The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) shall be of 100 Marks, the duration whereof will be 2 Hours, consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each of 01 Mark with Negative Marking of 0.33 Mark for each Wrong / Multiple Answer, and would be based on the following Syllabus: 
      • Part – A
        • The Indian Penal Code, 1860
        • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
        • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
        • The Gujarat Prohibition Act, 1949 (Old Bombay Prohibition Act)
        • The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Only Chapter XVII)
      • Part – B
        • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
        • The Limitation Act, 1963
        • The Indian Contract Act, 1872
        • The Constitution of India - [Part-III - Fundamental Rights (Articles 12 to 35A) & Part-IVA - Fundamental Duties] 
      • Part – C
        • General Knowledge, English Language, Test of Reasoning, Numerical & Mental Ability and Basics of Computer Applications.
    • The language of 75 Questions in the Preliminary Examination, will be English, whereas the remaining 25 Questions will be in Gujarati.
    • Preliminary Examination Paper (Objective Type) shall be assessed / evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to rechecking of the OMR Sheets, subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court. 
    • The Candidates securing a minimum of 50% Marks in the Preliminary Examination shall be declared as eligible for being called for Main Written Examination. However, the Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination, shall not be taken into consideration for preparing the Final Merit List of the candidates.
