Gujarat High Court (HCG) published an official notification for Recruitment of District Judge posts.  full official details will be available from 23th July, 2025 on https://hc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in/ (High Court OJAS) website. You can get full details for this recruitment as under. Online application for above said recruitment will be started from 28th July, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidate   must   possess   a  Degree   in   Law  from   a   University recognized by law in India.
    • Will have to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) language proficiency test. [See instructions at Item No.5(I)(iv) Provided that, those candidates who have cleared their Secondary as   well   as   Higher   Secondary   Examination   with   subject   of   Gujarati (Higher   Level   at   both   stages),   shall   not   be   required   to   pass aforementioned examination.
  • Note­1 : As decided by the High Court in its Full Court Meeting, the Candidates who have passed single subject of Gujarati from various Open Schools / Boards are   not   exempted   from   appearing   in   the   Test   of   Gujarati   Language   as mandated   in   Rule­5   (2)   (aa)   of   the   Gujarat   State   Judicial   Service (Amendment) Rules, 2019.
  • Candidate must be a  practicing Advocate  in Courts of Civil and/or Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for submission of Online Applications and must have so practiced continuously for a period not less than Seven Years, immediately preceding as on the  last date fixed for submission of the Online Application. 
  • Candidate must possess Basic Knowledge of Computer Application / Operation,  as   set   out   by   the   Government   of   Gujarat   in   General Administration   Department   Resolution   No.   PRCH­102005­1532­K, dated   30/09/2006   and   No.   CRR­10­2007­120320­G.5,   dated 13/08/2008.

Age Limit

  • A candidate must have attained the  age of 35 years  and must not have attained   the  age   of   48   years  in   the   case   of   candidates   belonging   to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially & Educationally Backward Classes,  declared   as   such   by   the   Government   of   Gujarat,   as   well   as Differently Abled Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Ex­Servicemen and 45 years in the case of General Candidates, as on the last date fixed for submission of the Online Application.

Pay Scale

  • Rs.1,44,840/­ – Rs.1,94,660/­ + allowances

Application Fee

  • The candidates belonging to General Category are required to pay Examination   Fees   of Rs.2,000/­ plus   Bank   Charges   whereas Rs.1,000/­ plus   Bank   Charges   are   required to be   paid by the Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Socially   &   Educationally   Backward   Classes,   Locomotor   Disabled Persons and Ex­Servicemen Categories via “Print Application / Pay Fee” Button through SBI e­Pay, provided on the web page of HCOJAS Portal.

                          • The  language  of   the   'Question   Papers'   (I   &   II)   of   the Preliminary Examination, will be English.
                          • Preliminary   Examination   Papers   (Objective   Type)  shall   be assessed / evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to rechecking of the OMR Sheets, subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court. High Court reserves right to hold examination by any other mode also and if it so held, then also rechecking / reevaluation request will not be entertained by the High Court.
                          • In view of amended Rule­5, viz.                         Educational Qualification

                        • M. Lib./ Master in Library and Information Science.

                        HCG Recruitment 2025 Selection Process

                        • The selection process involves a main written examination (objective type MCQs) scheduled for June 29, 2025, followed by a viva-voce test (oral interview) tentatively in July or August 2025. 
                        • The Select List shall be prepared on the basis of Aggregate Marks obtained by the Candidates in the Main Written Examination (60% Weightage) and Marks obtained in Viva-voce Test.
                        • The Select List shall remain in force for a period of 01 Year, from the date of its publication or until the publication of a fresh List(s), whichever is earlier.

                        HCG Assistant Librarian Scheme of Examination

                        • (A) Main Written Examination (Objective Type-MCQs): 
                          • The Main Written Examination would be conducted at Ahmedabad or at the Centre(s), as may be decided by the High Court, comprising of 100 Marks, with 02 Hours duration, consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each of 01 Mark with Negative Marking of 0.33 Mark for each Wrong/Multiple Answer.
                          • The Syllabus for Main Written Examination shall be as under: 
                            • Library Science
                            • English Language
                            • General Knowledge (History, Geography, Science, Current Affairs), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
                            • Legal Knowledge (Criminal Procedure Code-1973, Civil Procedure Code-1908, Indian Penal Code-1860, Evidence Act-1872, Constitution of India)
                            • Basic Knowledge of Computer Application
                          • The Language of Question Paper shall be English only.
                          • The Main Written Examination (Objective Type-MCQs) shall be administered through an O.M.R. Sheet or any other mode as may be decided by the High Court. In any case, reevaluation / rechecking / reassessment will not be entertained by the High Court. 
                          • Candidates shall have to secure minimum 50% Marks in the Main Written Examination, for being eligible to be called for Viva-voce Test.
                          • In case, large number of Candidates will qualify in the Main Written Examination, it will be open for the High Court to restrict the number of Candidates as deemed necessary, according to Merit.
                        • (B) Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview): 
                          • Viva-voce Test shall be of 40 Marks.
                          • For being eligible to be included in the Select List, the candidate shall have to obtain minimum 40% Marks in the Viva-voce Test.

                        HCG Eligible Candidates List 

                        Gujarat High Court (HCG)  has released the provisional list of eligible candidates for the posts of Deputy Section Officer (DySO), Court Manager, Computer Operator (IT), and Stenographer for the written test in 2024. You can find the list on the official website of the High Court of Gujarat.

                        The list contains the names of the candidates who have been shortlisted for the written test based on their application forms and other documents submitted. The final list of eligible candidates will be released after the verification of the documents of the shortlisted candidates.

                        The list includes the names of candidates who have been found eligible to appear for the written test. The written test will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

                        The dates for the written test have not yet been announced. However, the test is expected to be held in the month of December 2024.

                          • Candidate   must   possess   a  Degree   in   Law  from   a   University recognized by law in India.
                            • Will have to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) language proficiency test. [See instructions at Item No.5(I)(iv) Provided that, those candidates who have cleared their Secondary as   well   as   Higher   Secondary   Examination   with   subject   of   Gujarati (Higher   Level   at   both   stages),   shall   not   be   required   to   pass aforementioned examination.
                          • Note­1 : As decided by the High Court in its Full Court Meeting, the Candidates who have passed single subject of Gujarati from various Open Schools / Boards are   not   exempted   from   appearing   in   the   Test   of   Gujarati   Language   as mandated   in   Rule­5   (2)   (aa)   of   the   Gujarat   State   Judicial   Service (Amendment) Rules, 2019.
                          • Candidate must be a  practicing Advocate  in Courts of Civil and/or Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for submission of Online Applications and must have so practiced continuously for a period not less than Seven Years, immediately preceding as on the  last date fixed for submission of the Online Application. 
                          • Candidate must possess Basic Knowledge of Computer Application / Operation,  as   set   out   by   the   Government   of   Gujarat   in   General Administration   Department   Resolution   No.   PRCH­102005­1532­K, dated   30/09/2006   and   No.   CRR­10­2007­120320­G.5,   dated 13/08/2008.

                          Age Limit

                          • A candidate must have attained the  age of 35 years  and must not have attained   the  age   of   48   years  in   the   case   of   candidates   belonging   to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially & Educationally Backward Classes,  declared   as   such   by   the   Government   of   Gujarat,   as   well   as Differently Abled Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Ex­Servicemen and 45 years in the case of General Candidates, as on the last date fixed for submission of the Online Application.

                                                • Elimination Test (Objective T ype – MCQs) (100 Marks- One and Half Hours):
                                                  • Question Paper of Elimination Test shall consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each of 1 Mark. For every wrong / multiple answer, there shall be Negative Marking of 0.33 Marks. Language of the Question Paper shall be English except Questions in Gujarati. Duration of the Elimination Test shall be One and Half Hours.

                                                  • Marks obtained in the Elimination Test (Objective Type – MCQs) will not be considered for determining the merits, for preparing the Final Merit List. 
                                                  • Evaluation of the OMR Sheets of the Elimination Test shall be evaluated on Computer, as per entries made in OMR Sheets. As the evaluation is done on the Computer by 'Scanning', thereby eliminating manual evaluation, 'Rechecking' or 'Inspection' of OMR Sheets, subsequent to Elimination Test, will not be entertained by the High Court. High Court reserves right to hold examination by any other mode also and if it so held, then also rechecking/re-evaluation request will not be entertained by the High Court.
                                                  • In case, large number of Candidate qualify in the Elimination Test, it will be open for the High Court to restrict the number of Candidates as deemed necessary, according to Merit.
                                                • Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type) (60 Marks - 90 Minutes):
                                                  • The Candidates who qualify in the Elimination Test (Objective TypeMCQs) will have to appear in the Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type) of 60 Marks (Duration : 90 Minutes). Language of the Question Paper shall be English. Answers to Questions may be given in English, if not instructed otherwise. Which would be conducted at Ahmedabad or at any other place(s) that may be decided by the High Court.
                                                  • Syllabus of Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type):
                                                    • English Language
                                                    • Gujarati Language
                                                    • Basic Knowledge of Computer - Spreadsheet & Word Processing
                                                  • Candidates belonging to the Reserved Categories, i.e. SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, Differently Abled Persons [PH - only Orthopaedically disabled] and Ex-Servicemen, shall have to secure minimum 45% Marks and all the other Candidates shall have to secure minimum 50% Marks in the Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type), in order to qualify for next stage of the Recruitment Process. 
                                                  • In case, large number of Candidate qualify in the Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type), it will be open for the High Court to restrict the number of Candidates as deemed necessary, according to Merit.
                                                • Practical / Skill Test (Typing Test) (40 Marks - 10 Minutes):
                                                  • The Candidates who qualify in the Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type) will have to appear in the Typing Test of 40 Marks (Duration  10 Minutes) on Computer (English and/or Gujarati as the case may be), at Ahmedabad or at any other place(s) that may be decided by the High Court. 
                                                  • A Candidate shall have to secure minimum 40% Marks in the Practical / Skill Test (Typing Test), in order to qualify for next stage of the Recruitment Process. 
                                                  • For Typing Test in Gujarati, the Candidates will be facilitated with 'Gujarati Indic Input 3' (Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool) fonts and they can use any of the following Keyboard/Layout:
