UPSC CSE 2026 Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: A candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. 
  • Age limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2026 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1994 and not later than 1st August, 2005.

Selection Process for UPSC CSE 2026

  • The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination annually to select candidates for important positions in Group A and B across various government departments, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Revenue Service (IRS). The selection process consists of three stages: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the personality test.
  • The Civil Services (Preliminary) examination consists of two objective-type papers worth a total of 400 marks and functions as a screening tool to select candidates for the next phase. The scores from the preliminary exam do not affect the final ranking, but roughly twelve to thirteen times the number of available vacancies will be chosen from those who pass the exam to appear for the Civil Services (Main) Examination. Only those candidates who meet all eligibility requirements and are deemed qualified by the Commission in the preliminary exam can proceed to the Main Examination. To be eligible for the Main exam, candidates must obtain at least 33% in General Studies Paper-II and meet the overall qualifying marks in General Studies Paper-I, as specified by the Commission.

    Recently, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially declared the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) Final Result 2024. The result marks the conclusion of the 2024 exam cycle, which included the written exam in September 2024 and the personality test/interviews held between January and April 2025.

    In total, 1,009 candidates have been selected for appointment to various esteemed services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Group 'A' and Group 'B' Central Services, across multiple categories.

      Union Public Service Commission (UPSChas released the notification for the Civil Services Exam and Indian Forest Service Exam for the year 2025 on 22 Jan on upsc.gov.in. A total of 1129 vacancies will be filled of which 979 are for CSE and the remaining 150 for IFS. The online registration process also began on 22 January and the last date for applying is 11 February 2025 on upsconline.nic.in. However, modification in the application form can be done from 12 to 18 February. The notification consists of the number of vacancies, registration process, exam date, exam pattern and other information required to appear in the UPSC CSE Exam 2025.         Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) published an official notification for Civil Services Examination CSE 2024. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for UPSC CSE 2024 by below link. All candidates (male/female/transgender) are requested to carefully read the Rules of Civil Services Examination notified by the Government (Department of Personnel and Training) and this Notice of Examination derived from these Rules. The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to examination. Their admission to all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of e-Admit Card to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. The Commission takes up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.

        How to apply for UPSC CSE 2024

        Candidates are required to apply online by using the website upsconline.nic.in. It is essential for the
        applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the
        Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination. OTR has to be registered only once in life time. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway for filling up the online application for the examination.

        Last Date for UPSC CSE 2024

        The online Applications can be filled upto 5th March, 2024 till 6:00 PM. The eligible candidates shall
        be issued an e-Admit Card on the last working day of the preceding week of the date of examination.
        The e-Admit Card will be made available in the UPSC website [ https://upsconline.nic.in ] for
        downloading by candidates. No Admit Card will be sent by post.

        UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2023 Results Declared

        Union Public Service Commission - UPSC  has declared the UPSC CSE result 2023 for prelims today, June 12 in online mode. The UPSC IAS 2023 result for prelims has been released at upsc.gov.in. The Commission has released the UPSC CSE 2023 result in the form of a PDF file. As per the UPSC IAS result 2023 pdf, a total of 14624 candidates were shortlisted in the prelims. The UPSC IAS prelims result 2023 contains the roll numbers of the candidates. Candidates who shortlist in the UPSC CSE prelims result 2023 pdf will be eligible to appear in the UPSC IAS Mains exam.         Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has uploaded the notification and activated the online application for Civil Service Exam (CSE) 2023  or Indian Administration Service Exam 2023 (IAS 2023) at upsc.gov.in. Graduates can submit their UPSC CSE Application Form on or before 21 Feb 2023 on UPSC Online Website - upsconline.nic.in. It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR), and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination.         Eligibility Criteria:

        Educational Qualification

        • A candidate must hold a Graduate degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

        Age limit

        • A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2023 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1991 and not later than 1st August, 2002. 

        Application Fee

        • Candidates (Except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India by cash or by using Net Banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/Master/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment.

        Union Public Service Commission - UPSC  has announced the result of the exam for the post of Civil Services (Mains) Exam 2022 on its official website.  The mains exam was conducted from September 16 to September 25 in subjective mode. Candidates who appeared in the exam can check result at the official website — upsc.gov.in. The mains exam was conducted from September 16 to September 25 in subjective mode. The commission has released the roll numbers of the candidates who have qualified the exam.
