CISF Constable Tradesmen Recruitment 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For skilled trades, candidates must have passed matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent from a recognised board before the application closing date.
  • For unskilled trades, candidates must have matriculation or an equivalent qualification.

Age limit

  • Candidates should be between 18 to 23 years as of August 1, 2025.

Application fee

  • Rs 100 for UR, OBC, and EWS candidates.

      Exam Pattern

      • Objective-type question paper to be answered on an OMR sheet of 100 marks of 02 hours duration containing 100 questions on General Awareness / General Knowledge, Knowledge of elementary mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, Ability to observe and distinguish patterns, and to test the basic knowledge of the candidate in Hindi/English. The questions will be set bilingual in English / Hindi. There shall be no negative marking.

      Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)  has released CISF Jobs 2023 Notification for the post of Constable on its official website at https://www.cisf.gov.in. CISF is conducting the recruitment drive for as many as 451 vacancies. Interested candidates are advised to visit the official website of CISF and apply for the same within the last date.       Eligibility Criteria

      Educational Qualification

      • The candidate should have passed Matriculation or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board.
      • Educational certificate other than State Board/Central Board should be accompanied with Government of India notification declaring that such qualification is equivalent to Matric/10th class pass for service under Central Government.
      • Driving Licence: 
        • The candidate should have a valid driving licence in the following type of vehicles :- 
          • Heavy Motor Vehicle or Transport Vehicle (HMV/TV); 
          • Light Motor Vehicle;
          • Motor cycle with gear;
        • Attention is drawn to the following clause in the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, 
          • a) Section (4) Age limit in connection with Driving of Motor Vehicles
            • No person under the age of 18 years shall drive a Motor Vehicle in any public place.
            • No person under the age of 20 years shall drive a Transport Vehicle in any public place.
          • b) Section (7) Restrictions on the granting of Learners License for certain Vehicles
            • No person shall be granted a learners licence to drive a Transport Vehicle unless he has held a driving licence to drive a Light Motor Vehicle for at least 01 year.
      • Note: Unless the above provisions of Motor Vehicle Act are complied in the documents (Driving Licence) submitted by the candidates, the Driving Licence will be treated as invalid as per Motor Vehicle Act and the candidature will be rejected.
      • Experience: 03 years experience of driving Heavy Motor Vehicle or Transport Vehicle or Light Motor Vehicles and Motor Cycle. Vehicles and Motor Cycle. The experience for above driving shall be calculated from the date of issuance of the respective licences. The cut-off date shall be the closing date of receipt of application i.e. 22.02.2023.

      Age limit

      • Between 21 to 27 years. The crucial date for determining age limit will be the closing date for receipt of online application from the candidates i.e. 22/02/2023 including for the candidates of North East region.

      • Application fee @ Rs.100/- from UR, OBC and EWS candidates will be charged. Female candidates and those candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying application fee.

            CISF Constable / Driver Selection Process / Recruitment

            • There will be two stages of recruitment before medical examination as under:
              • OMR or Computer based Written Examination which will be bilingual i.e. English & Hindi. 
              • PET/PST, Documentation & Trade test.
              • Medical examination and Review Medical Examination. 
              • Drawal of final selection list on the basis of merit in the written, option chosen by the applicant and result of Detailed Medical Examination/Review Medical Examination.
            • Note: The sequence of the above two stages may interchange at the discretion of CISF due to administrative reason/prevailing circumstances. 

            CISF Constable / Driver Method of Selection

            • All candidates applying for the recruitment will be called for the 1st stage of the recruitment which will either be (1) written test or (2) PET/PST, Documentation and trade test. Detailed scrutiny of their eligibility will not be undertaken before PET/PST, documentation and Trade Test. Therefore, it will be the responsibility of the candidate to verify their eligibility as prescribed in this notice before appearing for the recruitment process.
              • HEIGHT BAR TEST (HBT): Candidates those found eligible in height bar test will be put through PET
              • PHYSICAL ENDURANCE TEST: To ensure smooth, transparency, accuracy and minimize human error, force will exercise its discretion to employ adequate measures and modernized means for conduct of PET event. At the very beginning, candidates will be asked to go through the height bar test and thereby, candidates with lesser height will be eliminated and will not be allowed to participate in further process of recruitment and will be given rejection slip intimating the reasons for rejection on the spot. Those candidates who qualify the height bar test will be put through the following Physical Efficiency Tests which will be qualifying in nature:
                • 800 Mtrs Run - In 3 minutes 15 seconds
                • Long Jump - 11 feet in 03 chances
                • High Jump - 3 feet 6 inches in 03 chances
              • Candidate will have to qualify in each event of PET. If a candidate fails to qualify in any of the three events of the  PET he will be declared failed in PET and will be eliminated from further process of recruitment at that stage itself.

            CISF Constable / Driver Trade Test (DRIVING TEST)

            • All the candidates who are declared qualified in PET/PST & Documentation will undergo trade test. Trade test will be qualifying in nature. 
            • Those who qualify in the PET, physical measurement and detailed verification of eligibility standards/documentation will be put through the following tests. Any candidates who do not secure the minimum qualifying marks in these test as shown against each, will be eliminated from that particular stage and will not be allowed to appear in the further tests:-
              • Driving test for light vehicle: 50 Marks & 25 Qualifying Marks
              • Driving test for heavy vehicle: 50 Marks & 25 Qualifying Marks
              • Practical knowledge of motor mechanism and ability to carry out minor repair of vehicles.: 30 Marks & 15 Qualifying Marks

            • The written test will be either OMR/Computer based Test. 
            • The question paper will be set to assess the general awareness/general knowledge, knowledge of elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of the candidate in English/Hindi at 10th standard. The questions will be set bilingual in English/Hindi. 
            • The written test will be of 100 marks consisting of 100 objective type multiple choice questions to be answered in two hours. 
            • The minimum percentage of marks for qualification for next stage will be as under:- 
              • General /ESM : 35 %
              • SC/ST/OBC : 33 %
            • Note:- The qualifying marks of 35% for General and ESM and 33% for SC/ST/OBC does not mean that all candidates who have scored 35% & 33% as the case may be will be called for next stage. The candidates for next stage will be called purely on the basis of their performance/marks scored in written examination and cut off marks (category wise) which will be fixed after completion of written examination.

            CISF Constable / Driver Physical Standards

            • For General, SC and OBC candidates (Except those in (b) below)
              • Height: 167 cms
              • Chest: Minimum 80 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 CMs i.e. 80 - 85 
            • Relaxed standards in respect of persons falling in the categories of Garhwalis, Kumaonese,  Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas subject to production of certificate as per Appendix-'C' and  candidates belonging to the States of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir subject to production of either domicile Certificate or Certificate as per Appendix-'C'
              • Height: 160 cms
              • Chest: Minimum 78 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 CMs i.e. 78 - 83 
            • The above standards [Para (4) (I) (e) (b) (i) & (ii)] will be applicable for all categories i.e. General, SC & OBC.
            • All candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
              • Height: 160 cms
              • Chest: Minimum 76 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 CMs i.e. 76 - 81 
            • NOTE: Ex-Servicemen candidates are eligible for Total relaxation in physical standards. However their physical standard will be measured and recorded in Document.

            • The person who seeks appointment for the above posts are liable to undergo medical examination in accordance to revised medical guidelines for recruitment medical examination in CAPFs and AR issued vide MHA UO No. A.VI-1/2014-Rectt (SSB) dated 20th May'2015. He shall fulfill the medical standards as elucidated therein.
            • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard. Weight will be recorded at the time of physical measurements but the decision on fitness on account of weight will be taken at the time of medical examination.
            • Eye sight: 
              • Visual Acuity unaided (Near Vision): Better eye - N6 | Worse eye - N6
              • Uncorrected visual acuity (Distant Vision): Better eye - 6/6 | Worse eye - 6/6
              • Refraction: Visual correction of any kind is not permitted even by glasses.

            • The candidate must not have knock knees, flat foot, Varicose vein and squint in eyes. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
            • Tattoos: It is noticed that during medical examination, the candidates having 'tattoos' in various parts of their body are appearing for medical examination. In this regard, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its letters No. I-45020/7/2012/ Pers-II dated 12.01.2017 and 30.01.2017 issued the following guidelines regarding candidates having tattoos applying for Constable/Driver and Constable/ DCPO Examination:
              • Content:-Being a secular country, the religious sentiments of our countrymen are to be respected and thus, tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted. 
              • Location:- Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left forearm, being non-saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.
              • Size:- Size must be less than 1⁄4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.

            • The recruitment process will consist of Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Written Examination and Medical Examination.
            • All candidates applying for the recruitment and prima-facie eligible will be asked to appear in Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and documentation. Detailed scrutiny of their eligibility will not be undertaken before PET/PST.             • Height Bar Test & 05 KMS Race (qualifying Nature): At the very beginning, candidates will be asked to go through the height bar and thereby, candidates with lesser height will be eliminated and will be given rejection slip intimating reasons for rejection. Those candidates who qualify the height test will be subjected to PET which shall consist of 05 Kms race to be completed in 24 minutes followed by biometric identification & screening of testimonials and thereon chest and weight measurements by a board .

            CISF Constable / Fire Physical Standards

            • For all candidates {except the following categories}
              • Height: 170 Cms
              • Chest: Minimum 80 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 Cms 
            • For candidates belonging to hill areas of the Garhwal, Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkimies, Kashmir Valley and Leh & Ladakh regions of J&K and North Eastern States subject to production of Certificate as per Annexure –IV.
              • Height: 165 Cms
              • Chest: Minimum 78 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 Cms 
            • Tribal or Adivasis including Mizos and Nagas subject to production of certificate as per Annexure – IV. 
              • Height: 162.5 Cms
              • Chest: Minimum 77 Cms with minimum expansion of 05 Cms 
            • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard. Weight will be recorded at the time of physical measurements but the decision on fitness on account of weight will be taken at the time of medical examination.

            CISF Constable / Fire Medical Standards

            • Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. 
            • Eye Sight :- The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses. They should possess high colour vision.
            • TATTOO :- Being a secular country, the religious sentiments of our countrymen are to be respected and thus, tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted.
            • Location:-Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left forearm, being non-saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.
            • Size:-Size must be less than ¼ of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body. 

            CISF Constable / Fire Written Exam

            • The written test will be conducted on OMR based.
            • The question paper will be set to assess the general awareness/ general knowledge, knowledge of elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of the candidate in English/ Hindi. The questions will be set bilingual in English/ Hindi.
            • The written test will be of 100 marks consisting of 100 objective type multiple choice questions to be answered in two hours.
            • The minimum percentage of marks for qualification for next stage will be as under:
              • General & Ex-Servicemen : 35 %
              • SC/ST/OBC : 33 %
            • NOTE: The qualifying marks means that person scoring less than the qualifying marks will not be called for next stage even if vacancy remains unfilled. The candidates will be called for next stage on the basis of their position in merit in the written examination and cut off marks of each State/Category according to allotted vacancy.
            • No representation for revaluation of answer sheet of written exam or re-conduct of written examination will be entertained.

              • For Direct candidates:

            • The written test for 100 marks containing 100 questions will consist of only OMR based objective type multiple choice questions to be answered using a Blue/Black ball pen.
            • The question paper will be set (Bi-lingual i.e. in Hindi and English) to assess the general awareness/general knowledge, knowledge of elementary mathematic, analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of candidate in Hindi/English. The papers can be answered either in Hindi or in English. The duration of the written test will be 02 hour.
            • Question Paper will consist of 100 objective type multiple choice questions carrying 01 mark each to assess the following. 
              • General awareness /knowledge, Knowledge of elementary mathematics Analytical aptitude. Ability to observe and distinguish pattern basic knowledge in Hindi / English.
            • The cut-off percentage of marks for qualifying in written exam will be as under:
              • General : 35 % 
              • SC/ST/OBC : 33 %
            • The qualifying marks of 35% for General and 33% for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-servicemen does not mean that all candidates who have scored 35 % & 33% as the case may be, will be called for next stage. The candidates will be called for next stage i.e. Medical Examination purely on the basis of their performance/marks scored in written examination and cut off marks (category wise) which will be fixed after completion of written examination.

            • ASI / STENO Written exam pattern & Syllabus:
              • Objective type question paper to be answered on OMR sheet of 100 marks of 02 hours duration containing 100 questions on General Intelligence, General Studies/Elementary science, General English or Hindi and Arithmetic.
                • General : 35% (Qualifying marks in written examination. )
                • SC/ST/OBC/Ex-servicemen :  33% (Qualifying marks in written examination. )
              • Skill test norms on computer: Shorthand Dictation will be of 10 minutes. For a dictation of 10 minutes there would be about 800 words @ 80 words per minute for transcription and subsequent typing. The time for transcription will be 50 minutes in English and 65 minutes in Hindi on computer.

            How to Apply CISF Assistant Sub Inspector Posts:

            Application on the proforma as per prescribed format should be sent to any of the authorities prescribed below for the candidate belonging to the States/UTs mentioned against each along with requisite application fees of Rs.100/- (Rupees hundred only) in the form of Postal Order drawn in favour of the officer mentioned under column 2 below and payable at the post office as mentioned under column 3. SC/ST, Women and Ex-servicemen candidates are exempted from application fee. Application fee remitted in any other from viz money order, bank draft, banker cheque will not be accepted and the application which accompanied with the application fee in any other form (other than the postal order) will be summarily be rejected.
