GSSSB Municipal Accountant Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- possess a Bachelor degree in Business Administration or Computer Application or Commerce or Science (Mathematics/ Statistics) or Arts (Statistics/Economics/ Mathematics) obtained from any of the Universities or institutions established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institution recognised as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government; and possess the basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967; and possess the adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or Both Provided that a candidate who has appeared at a degree examination, the passing of which would render him educationally qualified for the Preliminary Examination, but the result of such examination is not declared, till the last date of filling of the application form as also the candidates who intend to appear at such qualifying examination shall also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary examinations.
- Important Note: B.Sc. (CA & IT) and M.Sc. (CA & IT) degree holders are not eligible for this position.
- All candidates who are declared qualified by the Board for appearing in the Main Examination shall be required to produce proof of passing the required examination along with their application for the Main Examination: Provided that a candidate who fails to produce proof of passing the required examination shall not be eligible for admission to the Main Examination
Age Limit
- 20 to 35 years as on 21/08/2026.
Application Fee
- General: ₹500 (Preliminary Exam) and ₹600 (Main Exam)
- Reserved, Women, SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, PwD, Ex-Servicemen: ₹400 (Preliminary Exam) and ₹500 (Main Exam)

GSSSB Municipal Accountant Selection Process
- The GSSSB typically follows a two-stage selection process for technical Class-III posts:
- Written Competitive Exam (CBRT): A computer-based recruitment test consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for original document verification and a final merit list will be prepared.

- Preliminary Examination:
- The Preliminary Examination shall consist of one Paper of total 150 Marks as follow:
- Nature of Exam: Objective (MCQs):
- Subject : General Studies - 150 Marks
- Duration: 2 Hours
- The objective type Elimination Test shall consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Every question shall be of 1 mark.
- Every attempted question with an incorrect answer shall carry a negative mark of 0.25.
- Main Examination:
- The scheme and subjects of the Main Examination shall consist Total Marks of the following papers:
- Nature of Exam: Descriptive
- Subject:
- Gujarati Language and English Language - 100 Marks
- Accountancy and Auditing, etc.. - 100 Marks
- Duration : 3 Hours
- The standard of Gujarati Paper shall be equivalent to Gujarati subjects (Higher Level) of the Twelfth standard of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.
- The standard of English Paper shall be equivalent to English subjects (Higher Level) of Twelfth standard of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary.
- The standard and the course content of the syllabus for Paper 2 (Accountancy and Auditing, etc.) shall be of a degree level. The Scheme of the Paper shall be as prescribed in Appendix-B.
- The details of the syllabus shall be as prescribed in Appendix-A and B.
- The question papers for the main examination shall be of Descriptive type.
- Minimum Qualifying Standards:
- Minimum Qualifying Standard for Preliminary Examination (Objective) Part-1: The minimum qualifying standard for the Preliminary Examination (Objective) Part-1 shall be 40% marks for candidates of all categories.
- Minimum Qualifying Standard for Main Examination (Descriptive) Part-2: The minimum qualifying standard for the Main Examination (Descriptive) Part-2 shall be 40% marks in each paper for candidates of all categories.
