GAIL Executive Trainee Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Executive Trainee (Chemical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Chemical/ Petrochemical / Chemical Technology / Petrochemical Technology / Chemical Technology & Polymer Science/ Chemical Technology & Plastic Technology with minimum 65% marks.
Executive Trainee (Instrumentation): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electrical & Instrumentation/ Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics with minimum 65% Marks.
Executive Trainee (Electrical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Electrical/ Electrical, Electronics & Power / Electrical & Electronics/ Electrical & Power with minimum 65% marks.
Executive Trainee (Mechanical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Mechanical/ Production/ Production & Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Mechanical & Automobile with minimum 65% marks.
Note: Relaxation of 5% in minimum percentage of marks in essential qualification will be provided in respect of SC, ST and PwBD category. However, the above relaxation in minimum qualifying percentage of marks in education qualification is applicable only in respect of posts which are reserved for SC/ ST/PwBD Categories. SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against unreserved posts shall be considered under general standard of merit and no relaxation in Minimum Percentage of marks in Educational Qualification shall be available to them. Further, no rounding off in marks to the next higher digit will be allowed for calculation of percentage of marks secured in Bachelor degree/ Master Degree etc. e.g 64.99% will not be considered as 65% for UR category.

Age limit

The upper Age Limit is 26 years as on 18.03.2027 for the posts of Executive Trainee in all disciplines.

Application Fee

At the time of submission of online application, candidates belonging to UR/EWS/OBC (NCL) category are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹ 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) (excluding applicable Convenience Fee and Taxes). However, SC/ ST/PwBD category candidates are exempted from payment of application fees subject to submission of true copy of certificate(s) as applicable, issued by the Competent Authority in the format as prescribed by Government of India at the time of document verification.

GAIL Executive Trainee Selection Process 2026

GAIL will be utilizing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ‐ 2027 Marks (GATE‐2027 Marks) for recruitment of Executive Trainees in the above-mentioned disciplines during the year 2027.
Based on the GATE‐2027 marks and requirement, candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process for the position of Executive Trainee in the above disciplines.

How to Apply

Phase 1: GATE Examination Registration

Register for GATE: Candidates must first register and successfully appear for the GATE examination in their specific discipline paper (Chemical - CH, Electrical - EE, Instrumentation - IN, or Mechanical - ME) through the official GOAPS portal managed by the organizing IIT.
