SSC CGL 2026 Eligibility Criteria

SSC CGL 2026 Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2026):

  • For Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer: Bachelor's Degree (Essential). Desirable: Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant, Company Secretary, Masters in Commerce, MBA, or Master's in Business Studies.
  • For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)- Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University with a minimum 60% in Mathematics in Class 12th
  • or in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects in graduation.
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II- Graduation Degree from any recognised University with Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics as a compulsory or Elective Subject.
  • For Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute with a minimum of one year of research experience in any recognized university or recognised Research Institution.
  • For remaining posts- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University.

SSC CGL 2026 Age limit (As on 01/08/2026)

  • 18-27 years (Auditor,  Accountant,  Junior Accountant, Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Upper Division Clerk (UDC), Senior Administrative Assistant, Tax Assistant, Sub-Inspector (CBN))
  • 20-30 years (Assistant Audit Officer (AAO), Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO), Assistant Section Officer (ASO), Inspector of Income Tax , Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO), Inspector Posts, Executive Assistant, Research Assistant, Divisional Accountant, Sub Inspector (NIA), Junior Intelligence Officer,  Statistical Investigator Grade-II, Office Superintendent, Section Head)

SSC CGL 2026 Application Fee

  • The candidates have to pay Rs. 100/- while submitting their SSC CGL Application Form online at www.ssc.gov.in. Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM are eligible for reservation and are exempted from the application fee payment. Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa / Mastercard / Maestro / RuPay Debit cards. Last date for online fee payment: 23 June 2026 (23:00 hours). Fee once paid is non-refundable.

SSC CGL 2026 Selection Process

  • SSC conducts a two-tier SSC CGL selection process to shortlist candidates for various Group B and C posts under the SSC CGL 2026. 
    • Stage 1 Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying in nature).
    • Stage 2 Tier-II: Paper I (Compulsory for all posts), Paper-II for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, and Paper-III for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO). 
  • Final selection is based on merit-cum-preference of posts given by the candidate. Once a post is allotted, no change will be made by the Commission.

SSC CGL 2026 How to Apply

  • Candidates having requisite educational qualification can apply for the SSC CGL Exam 2026 after following the guidelines mentioned on the notification.     • First of All Complete One Time Registration (OTR): Register on the SSC website or mySSC app.
