UPSC CBI Recruitment 2024 Notification

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of 27 Assistant Programmers in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). These positions offer a pay scale at Level-7 of the 7th CPC, with age relaxations and reservations available for various categories, including PwBD candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Masters Degree in Computer Application or Computer Science or Master of Technology (with specialisation in Computer Application) or Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering or Computer science or Computer Technology from a recognised University or Institute. OR
(i) Bachelor degree in Computer Application or Computer Science or Electronics or Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognised University; and (ii) Two years experience in electronic data processing work including experience of actual programming from a recognised institute or from Offices of Central Government or State Government or Union Territories or Autonomous or Statutory organization or public sector undertakings or Universities or Recognized Research Institute. OR
(i) A Level diploma under Department of Electronic Accredited Computer courses programme or Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application offered under University Programme: and (ii) Three years experience of electronic data processing work including experience of actual programming from a recognized institute or from offices of Central Government or State Government or Union Territories or Autonomous or Statutory organization or public sector undertakings or Universities or Recognized Research Institute.

Age limit

30 years for URs/EWSs,
33 years for OBCs and
35 years for SCs/STs.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 25 in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/ UPI payment/ Master/ Rupay/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. However, Female, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disability are exempted from paying the application fee.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Assistant Programmer position in the CBI under UPSC may involve a shortlisting phase if applications are large in number. Shortlisting methods could include evaluating candidates based on higher qualifications or experience. If required, a recruitment test (RT) may be conducted, followed by an interview.
Final merit is typically determined by assigning 75% weight to the RT and 25% to the interview. Candidates who pass the RT must meet minimum suitability scores in the interview to qualify for final selection.
