SSC CGL 2023 Notification
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the commencement of the application process for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2023. Interested candidates will be able to apply online through the official website at ssc.nic.in till May 4. The candidates can make changes in their applications from May 7 to May 8. This recruitment drive is being conducted to fill approximately 7,500 vacancies in various departments.

SSC CGL 2023 Eligibility Criteria
SSC CGL 2023 Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2023):
- Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer:
- Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
- Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
- During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the “Subordinate Audit/ Accounts Service Examination” in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.
- Junior Statistical Officer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; Or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- Statistical Investigator Grade-II:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all the three years or all the 6 semesters of the graduation course.
- Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):
- Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
- Desirable Qualifications: Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution; Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
- All other Posts:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

- 18-27 (Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, Senior Secretariate, Upper Division Clerks, Tax Assistant, Sub-Inspector - Group C)
- 18-30 (Inspector, Assistant - Group B)
- 20-27 (Tax Assistant - Group C)
- 20-30 (Assistant Section Officer - Group B)
- Not Exceeding 30 (Assistant Audit Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Division Accountant- Group B, Group B Gazetted, Group C)
- Up to 30 (Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub Inspector - Group B)
- Up to 32 (Junior Statistical Officer - Group B)
SSC CGL 2023 Application Fee
- The applictaion fee is Rs. 100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of a fee.
SSC CGL 2023 Selection Process
- The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has revised the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam pattern along with SSC CGL Notification 2023. The Examination will be conducted in 2 tiers as indicated below:
- Tier – I: Objective Multiple Choice (Computer-Based)
- Tier – II (Paper I, II, III): (Computer-Based (online))
- Paper I (Compulsory for all posts)
- Paper II for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and
- Paper III for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
- Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2023
- Total Marks - 200
- Total Questions - 100
- Total Time - 1 hour
- Negative Marking - 0.5 marks will be deducted for wrong answer
- Subjects:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning - 25 MCQs of 50 Marks
- General Awareness - 25 MCQs of 50 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude - 25 MCQs of 50 Marks
- English Language and Comprehension - 25 MCQs of 50 Marks
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2023
- Paper 1:
- Section 1 (Module-I: Mathematical Abilities and Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence)
- No. of Questions: 60 (30 and 30)
- Marks: 180 (3 per question)
- Time: 2 Hours and 15 minutes for the online exam. 15 minutes for Date Entry
- Negative Marking: 1 mark
- Section 2 (Module-I: English Language and Comprehension Module-II: General Awareness)
- No. of Questions: 70 (45 and 25)
- Marks: 180 (3 per question)
- Time: 2 Hours and 15 minutes for the online exam. 15 minutes for Date Entry
- Negative Marking: 1 mark
- Section 3 (Module-I: Module-I: Computer Knowledge Module Module-II: Module-II: Data Entry Speed Test Module)
- No. of Questions: 20 for Module 1 and one date entry task
- Marks: 180 (3 per question)
- Time: 2 Hours and 15 minutes for the online exam. 15 minutes for Date Entry
- Negative Marking: 1 mark for Module 1 only
- Paper 2: Statistics :
- No. of Questions: 100
- Marks: 200
- Time: 2 Hours
- Negative Marking: 0.5 mark
- Paper 3: General Studies (Finance & Economics) (For Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.):
- No. of Questions: 100
- Marks: 200

SSC CGL 2023 How to Apply
- Interested and Eligible Candidates can apply online by below mentioned link. Applications must be submitted only in online mode at the website of SSC Headquarter i.e. https://ssc.nic.in. For detailed instructions, please refer to Annexure-III and Annexure-IV. Sample proforma of One-time Registration and online Application Form are attached as Annexure-IIIA and Annexure-IVA respectively.
