Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar has officially released a notification (Advt. No.: APB/2026/HCP0024-III-WP-1/01) inviting applications for 01 temporary position of Project Associate-I (PAT-I).

The recruitment is being conducted for a CSIR-sponsored research project titled "Identification of potential locations across India for seaweed cultivation". Eligible candidates holding an M.Sc. in Botany can submit their application via email on or before 21st August 2026.

CSIR-CSMCRI Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. Botany from a recognized University.
Preferred experience: Basic knowledge in Botany, and seaweed culture, cultivation.
Job description: Selected candidate will work on seaweed culture and cultivation sponsored project, entitled “Identification of potential locations across India for seaweed cultivation”. The selected candidate needs to do culturing, life history studies of selected seaweeds, collection of seaweeds, seedling production through advanced tissue culture techniques, scientific data generation of seaweed cultivation, record of environmental parameters, physico-chemical analysis of seawater, land-based tank cultivation at the institute’s experimental salt farm

CSIR-CSMCRI Age Limit 2026

maximum 35 years. Age relaxation is applicable as per CSIR rules.

CSIR-CSMCRI Salary 2026

Rs. 31000+HRA (as applicable) for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/assistant professorship or GATE OR those who have qualified national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions
Rs. 25,000/-+ HRA (as applicable) for others who do not fall under (a) above

CSIR-CSMCRI Selection Process 2026

Shortlisting: Received applications will be scrutinized based on academic records and experience criteria.
Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the online interview details via email.
Tenure & Engagement:

Purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.
Total aggregate tenure across all CSIR project staff roles cannot exceed 6 years.
Does not confer any claim or right for regular absorption at CSIR-CSMCRI.
No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.
