GSSSB JSA Recruitment Eligibility Criteria
GSSSB Jr. Scientific Assistant Educational Qualification
The educational qualification required for the positions are as follows:
(1) a bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil) or Technology (Civil) obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institutions recognised as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or (2) a diploma in Civil Engineering obtained from Technical Examination Board or any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institutions recognized as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; and (i) have about two years experience on the post of Laboratory Assistant, Class III, in the subordinate services under the Directorate of the Gujarat Engineering Research Institute, Gujarat State; or (ii) have about two years experience of Laboratory testing, Quality Control, Field Quality Assurance, Field Investigation, Design or Construction in the field of Civil Engineering in the Government / Government under taking / Board /Corporation/Limited Company established under the companies Act, 2013;
- basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967;
- the adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or Both.

- 18 to 35 year (as on 15/07/2025)
GSSSB Jr. Scientific Assistant Application Fee
- Rs. 500/- for General Category, Rs. 400/- for Female, OBC, SC, ST, Divyag, Ex-Servicemen.
- The fees paid shall be refunded to those candidates who appear for the examination.
GSSSB Jr. Scientific Assistant Selection Process
- The exam will be conducted either as an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based test or a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

- Total Questions: 210
- Total Marks: 210
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
- Negative Marking: Yes, 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
- The level of questions for the subject-related part will be based on the required educational qualification (Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering).
- The examination will consist of 210 multiple-choice questions for a total of 210 marks, to be completed within 3 hours (180 minutes). The paper is divided into two main parts:
- Part A: Aptitude Section (60 Marks)
- Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation: 30 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 30 Marks
- Part B: Subject-Specific + General Knowledge (150 Marks)
- Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension: 30 Marks
- Subject-Related Questions (Civil Engineering): 120 Marks (These questions will be based on the candidate's qualification, i.e., Civil Engineering concepts.)
- Each question carries 1 mark.
- Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer (1/4th of the marks allotted to the question).
- A minimum qualifying standard of 40% in Part-A and 40% in Part-B is generally applicable for all categories. However, candidates should always refer to the official detailed notification for the exact qualifying criteria.
- Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation: 30 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 30 Marks
- Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension: 30 Marks
- Subject-Related Questions (Civil Engineering): 120 Marks (These questions will be based on the candidate's qualification, i.e., Civil Engineering concepts.)
