Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The candidate should be a Ph.D. in Physics or Engineering. The Ph.D. should be in an area relevant to the research & development interests of IPR.
The candidate should also have first class or equivalent at the preceding degree (B.E. / B.Tech., M.Sc., M.E. /M.Tech.).
Essential Experience:

The candidate should be an eminent Scientist / Engineer with excellent academic background, and high quality R&D output in the area of plasma sciences and/or related technologies. Successful Project implementation track record in the field of plasma/fusion science and technology is necessary.
The candidate should satisfy one of the following conditions (a) or (b) or (c) below:

(a) Already be in Analogous Pay Level (16) as per 7th CPC, OR (b) Be at Pay Level 15, with a total of 5 years experience in Pay Levels 14 & 15 (Combined), OR (c) 7 years regular service in Level-14 or equivalent.

The candidate should have experience in managing a large scientific/engineering R&D group in the execution of projects or leading a large scientific R&D group/reputed scientific/engineering R&D institution.
Should have excellent publication record, and should be able to elicit recommendations from eminent professionals in the field of his/her research interest.
Should have rich experience in project implementation with optimum utilization of resources.

Desirable Experience:

Apart from the above essential qualifications, the candidate is expected to be familiar with administrative and financial matters, preferably in Government R&D institutions / Aided Institutes /PSUs.
He/She should preferably be the recipient of a recognition / award from one of the science /engineering academies or academic recognition from reputed institutes/universities, or be a recipient of R&D awards from Government agencies.
IPR plays a major role in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Project at Cadarache, France in which India is a Member. Thus the assignment calls for adequate experience in optimally utilizing national and/or international scientific collaborations.

Age limit

Candidate shall not be less than 50 years of age and shall not be more than 57 years of age as on 01-January-2025.

Selection Process

By Deputation or Direct Recruitment (Search–cum-selection against open advertisement). There could either be an application or nomination by an Eminent Scientist / Technologist.
Selection will be made by the Government of India, following the recommendations of a Search–cum–Selection Committee and the approval of the IPR Governing Council, as per Clause 26 of the Institute Bye-Laws.
