HCG Stenographer Recruitment 2018

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification

  • English Stenographer: 
    • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Government.
    • Speed in English Short Hand 120 w.p.m.
    • Basic knowledge of Computer as prescribed by the Government. 
    • Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati & Hindi Language
  • Gujarati Stenographer:
    • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Government. 
    • Speed in Gujarati Short Hand 90 w.p.m. 
    • Basic knowledge of Computer as prescribed by the Government.
    • Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati & Hindi Language

Age Limit 

  • A Candidate applying for English Stenographer Grade-II and/or Gujarati Stenographer Grade-II, shall not be less than 21 years and not more than 40 years of age, as on 31/12/2018 i.e. the Last Date for submitting the Online Application.   

Application Fee 

  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, Differently Abled Persons (PH) and Ex-Servicemen shall be required to pay Fees of Rs.300/- plus the usual Bank Charges and all other candidates shall be required to pay Fees of Rs.600/- plus the usual Bank Charges via “Print Application / Pay Fee” Button through SBI e-Pay, provided on the webpage of HC-OJAS Portal- https://hc-ojas.guj.nic.in.

Selection Process

  • The Select List & Centralized Wait List will be prepared on the basis of Aggregate Marks obtained by the Candidates in Stenography/Skill Tests and the Viva-voce Tests, for the respective post.

Scheme of examination for Stenographer Exam 2018

  • (A) Stenography / Skill Test: [Tentatively scheduled on 10/03/2019]
    • The Selection will be made on the basis of performance in Stenography Test of 60 Marks. The particular thereof, is as follow:
      • English Steno. Grade-II: 
        • Duration of Dictation per passage: 4 minutes
        • Total Passages: 2
        • Speed of Dictation: 120 w.p.m.
        • Words per passage: 480
        • Total Transcription Time: 50 minutes
      • Gujarati Steno. Grade-II:
        • Duration of Dictation per passage: 4 minutes
        • Total Passages: 2
        • Speed of Dictation: 90 w.p.m.
        • Words per passage: 360
        • Total Transcription Time: 75 minutes
    • For Gujarati Stenographer Grade-II, at the time of transcription, Candidates will be facilitated with ‘Gujarati Indic Input Tools (MS Office Indic Version) Fonts and they can use any of the following Keyboard/Layout:
      • Gujarati Inscript
      • Gujarati Typewriter
      • Gujarati Typewriter (G)
      • Godrej Indica
      • Remington Indica
      • Special Characters
      • Gujarati Tera font
    • Note: Candidates will NOT be allowed to use Gujarati Transliteration (Phonetic) Fonts.
    • Candidates appearing for the Stenography/Skill Test shall have to take the Dictation in Shorthand Notations only, and those detected to be taking / have taken dictation in longhand, would be disqualified forthwith. 
    • Candidate shall have to secure minimum 50% Marks in the Stenography Test.
    • In case, large number of Candidates qualify in the succeeding tiers of Examinations, it will be open for the High Court to restrict the number of Candidates, as deemed necessary, according to Merit, for the Next Stage of the Recruitment Process. 
  • (B) Viva-voce Test : [Tentatively scheduled in the month of April, 2019]
    • Viva-voce Test shall be of 40 Marks.
    • Suitability of the Candidates, at the Viva-voce Test, will be assessed on the basis of one’s Mental Alertness, General Knowledge, Current affairs, Clear and logical exposition, Skills, Ethics, Power of assimilation, Power of communication, Character and Analytical ability, Knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi & English Languages etc. 
    • For being eligible to be included in the Final Merit List, the Candidate shall have to obtain minimum 25% Marks in the Viva-Voce Test (Oral Interview).
