RRB ALP 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Before applying for the RRB ALP Vacancy 2026, aspirants must make sure that they fulfil the required eligibility in terms of their age, qualification, experience, etc. Those who do not fulfil these requirements will be disqualified. Key requirements as per the RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Eligibility are:

Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications from a recognized institute:
Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from NCVT/SCVT recognized institutions in trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel/Motor Vehicle/Radio & TV), Wireman, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & AC Mechanic, etc.
Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the approved trades
Matriculation / SSLC plus 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering or combinations of these streams from a recognized institution

Engineering Degree in the above disciplines (also acceptable in place of a diploma).

RRB ALP Age Limit (as on 01/07/2026)

The age of the applicants for the post of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) must be within the age limit as specified between 18 to 30 years as on 01/07/2026,

Application Fee

To complete the application process, candidates need to pay the following non-refundable fee. The fee can be paid online.

RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the Assistant Loco Pilot post consists of multiple stages.

CBT-1 (First Stage Computer Based Test): This is a screening test. Marks from CBT-1 are not counted in the final merit list.
CBT-2 (Second Stage Computer Based Test): Candidates who qualify in CBT-1 appear for CBT-2. It consists of Part A (General subjects) and Part B (Trade-related).
CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test): Candidates shortlisted from CBT-2 will have to appear for the aptitude test.
Document Verification (DV): Candidates who clear CBAT are called for document verification.
Medical Examination: A final medical fitness test is conducted as per the standards required for Loco Pilots.
