UPSC Recruitment 2024

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is inviting applications from hard-working and diligent candidates for the posts of Specialist Grade III in various departments. There are 78 vacant seats available for the positions mentioned. The maximum age of the candidates should not be more than 45 years old for UR and EWS candidates, 48 years for OBC candidates, and 50 years for SC/STs.

  • Name of posts: 
    • Specialist Grade III (Anesthesiology): 46 posts
    • Specialist Grade III (Microbiology): 9 posts
    • Specialist Grade III (Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery): 8 posts
    • Specialist Grade III (Forensic Medicine): 7 posts
    • Specialist Grade III (Pathology): 7 posts
    • Specialist Grade III (Biochemistry): 1 post

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Specialist Grade III (Anaesthesiology): 
    • Candidates should have a recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Candidates should have a post-graduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned speciality or super speciality mentioned in Section A or Section B in Schedule VI or equivalent i.e. M.D.(Anaesthesiology)/ M.S.(Anaesthesiology)/ Diploma in Anaesthesiology (D.A.)
  • Specialist Grade III (Biochemistry): 
    • Candidates should have a recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Candidates should have post-graduate Degrees as mentioned in section A in Schedule VI i.e. M.D.(Bio-Chemistry)/ M.Sc.( Medical Bio-Chemistry), Ph.D. (Bio-Chemistry), or D.Sc. (Bio-Chemistry).
  • Specialist Grade III (Forensic Medicine):
    • Candidates should have a recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Candidates should have post-graduate Degrees as mentioned in section A in Schedule VI i.e. M.D.(Forensic Medicine).
  • Specialist Grade III (Pathology):
    • (i) A recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. (ii) PostGraduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned speciality or super speciality mentioned in Section A or Section B in Schedule VI or equivalent i.e. M.D.(Pathology)/ Ph.D.( Pathology)/ D.Sc.(Pathology)/Diploma in Clinical Pathology(DCP) /Diploma in Pathology & Bacteriology(DPB).
  • Specialist Grade III (Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery):
    • Candidates should have a recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Candidates should have Post-Graduation degree in the concerned speciality or super speciality mentioned in Section A in Schedule VI or equivalent i.e. M.Ch.(Plastic Surgery)/ M.Ch.(Plastic & Constructive Surgery.

Age limit

  • Maximum 50 Years.

Application Fee

  • Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 25 in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/ UPI payment/ Master/ Rupay/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. However, Female, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disability are exempted from paying the application fee.

Selection Process

  • The selection process comprises a recruitment test followed by an interview. In instances where the selection is based on the Recruitment Test (RT) followed by an interview, candidates are required to attain a minimum level of suitability in their respective category during the interview stage.
