Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Recruitment 2018: 

ITBP has issued a notification for the recruitment of Male Constable (Driver) Vacancy at 134 posts. Interested candidates may apply by 15th March 2018.

ITBP Constable (Driver) Eligibility Criteria 

  • Educational Qualification: 
    • Matriculation or 10th class pass from a recognized Board or Institution or equivalent. 
    • Having a valid driving license (Transport) for Light or Medium or Heavy motor vehicle with overall minimum two years experience in driving.
  • Age limit: 21 to 27 years 
  • Application Fee: Candidates belonging to General (UR) / OBC category applying for recruitment to the above posts should pay Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) as application fee through online payment gateway system on www.recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. Application received with any other mode of fee payment will be summarily rejected. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Ex-servicemen are exempted from paying fee.

  • The candidates whose applications are found in order, shall be issued admit cards (online) to appear in the recruitment tests. The date, time and place of recruitment test will be indicated in the Admit Card. It is clarified that candidatures of candidates who are issued admit cards will remain provisional till they are finally selected.

ITBP Constable (Driver) Physical Test

  • All other States and Union Territories (except category mentioned below):
    • Height: 170 cms (Male)
    • Chest (form Male): 80 cms (Unexpanded) | 85 cms (Expanded)
  • For candidates falling in the categories of Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the State of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh regions of Jammu & Kashmir.:
    • Height: 165 cms (Male)
    • Chest (form Male): 78 cms (Unexpanded) | 83 cms (Expanded)
  • Candidates hailing from North-Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.:
    • Height: 162.5 cms (Male)
    • Chest (form Male): 77 cms (Unexpanded) | 82 cms (Expanded)
  • All candidates belonging to the Scheduled-Tribes hailing from the North-Eastern States as above and the Left Wing Extremism affected districts:
    • Height: 160 cms (Male)
    • Chest (form Male): 76 cms (Unexpanded) | 81 cms (Expanded)
  • All candidate belonging to the Scheduled-Tribes other than North-Eastern States and Left Wing Extremism affected districts:
    • Height: 162.5 cms (Male)
    • Chest (form Male): 76 cms (Unexpanded) | 81 cms (Expanded)
  • Corresponding to height and age as per medical standard.

ITBP Constable (Driver) Medical Standard

  • Eye Sight: The minimum visual standard for the candidates of all categories will be as follows:
    • Visual Acuity unaided (NEAR VISION): N6 (Better eye) | N9 (Worse eye)
    • Uncorrected visual acuity (DISTANT VISION): 6/6 (Better eye) | 6/9 (Worse eye)
    • Refraction: Visual correction of any kind is not permitted even by glasses.
    • Colour Vision: CP III by ISIHARA
  • The candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes;
  • Must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. 
  • An colour blind person will not be eligible for appointment. If at any stage of service career, person is found to be colour blind, he will be boarded out as per SHAPE policy in vogue in the force. .

    • Tattoos:
      • Content: Being a secular country, the religious sentiments of our countrymen are to be respected and thus, tattoos depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted.
      • Location: Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed. 
      • Size: Size must be less than 1⁄4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.

    ITBP Constable (Driver) Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

    • Phase - I:
      • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Those who qualify the Height Bar Test, will be subjected to physical efficiency test. The events of the PET are as follows:
        • 1.6 Kms Race: To be completed within 7.30 minutes.
        • Long Jump: 11 Feet (03 Chances)
        • High Jump 3½ Feet (03 Chances)
      • Physical Standard Test (PST):  Candidates who qualify the PET will be screened for Height, Chest and Weight measurements. Those who do not meet the required physical measurements as applicable will be eliminated at this stag.

      ITBP Constable (Driver) Written Exam Syllabus & Exam Pattern

      • Phase - II:
        • The candidates who qualify PST will have to appear in written examination. Fresh admit Cards to the candidates, who qualify for the written test will be issued online by mentioning the date & venue of the written test. A list of candidates qualified for written test will also be uploaded on ITBP website i.e. www.recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. The written test will be as under:- 
          • The written test for 100 marks containing 100 questions will consist of only OMR based objective type multiple choice questions to be answered using a Blue or Black Ball pen only. OMR Sheet will be signed both by the candidate and invigilator.
          • The question paper will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
          • Pattern of question paper will be as under:
            • General Knowledge: 10 Questions & 10 Marks 
            • Mathematics: 10 Questions & 10 Marks 
            • Hindi: 10 Questions & 10 Marks
            • English: 10 Questions & 10 Marks
            • Trade Related Theory: 60 Questions & 60 Marks
            • Duration of written test: 2 Hour
          • The questions for written test shall be of 10th standard. 
          • The cut-off percentage of marks for qualifying in written exam will be as under:
            • General and Ex-Servicemen: 35%
            • SC, ST & OBC: 33%

        • Practical (Skill) Test: The candidates who qualify the written test will be put through a Practical (Skill) Test. Skill test is divided into following parts:
          • All checks before engine starting and knowledge about vehicle sensor and signals and rear view mirror adjustment: 05 Marks
          • Smooth straight head driving with gears changing, top gear speed, change to lower gear from top gear in different traffic condition: 05 Marks
          • Vehicle uphill and downhill operations, stop and restart at steep gradient without rolling back.: 05 Marks
          • The technique of overtaking, giving pass, change of lanes and lane driving and other precautions.: 05 Marks
          • Use of hand signals and electric signals, emergency stops, precautions & safety: 05 Marks
          • Vehicle reversing, Garaging on & off side and taking out vehicle from different restrictions, turning of vehicle left, right and stopping etc.: 05 Marks
          • Show courtesy and consideration for the safe and convenience of other road users, such as pedestrians, drivers and other motor vehicles or cyclist.: 05 Marks
          • Knowledge about mandatory, warning and informatory road signs.: 05 Marks
          • Knowledge about driver’s duty in case of accident.: 05 Marks
          • Knowledge about motor mechanism (candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicle).: 05 Marks 
          • Total: 50 Marks
        • The cut-off percentage of marks for qualifying in Practical (skill) test will be as under:
          • General and Ex-Servicemen: 35%
          • SC, ST & OBC: 33%
        • Merit List: After completion of Practical (Skill) Test, Merit lists in each category namely, Gen, SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and Ex-servicemen will be drawn on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination. The candidates shall be shortlisted for Verification of Original Documents/Certificates and Detailed Medical Examination (DME) as per the category wise vacancies on the basis of this merit. Extended list shall also be prepared to cover the shortfall due to failure of candidates in DME and Review Medical Examination (RME). However, there shall be no reserve list.
